I’m not one to talk about it whenever I show charity or benevolence to people. This is because I strongly believe for charity to be charity, it must be void of attraction, attention or applaud to the benevolent. Today, I chose to talk about it because I noticed some feelings in me each time I’m able to be benevolent to someone outside no matter how little it is.

My conscience always asks me these questions: Have you given much more than you can give your household/family? Have you finished providing for your close ties before doing this?

This isn’t to insinuate that one must adequately provide for close ties before giving alms or showing benevolence outside. But, it must first start from within because: Of what benefit is it being charitable outside while your immediate circle lacks?

Writing is of kinds, and each kind has its formats, tenets and techniques. Because one carries the tag, “writer” doesn’t mean one can write just about everything. While some are excellent research/academic writers, polemics, essayists/columnists/journalists, others are good in fiction and creative writing only — it’s simply all about your niche and specialty. Almighty Wole Soyinka is known for his plays than prose; conversely for Chinua Achebe.

In context, I call myself a writer, but ask me to write a script and see the dummy I’ll become. Even though I took a course on playwriting back in the Uni, kindly meet a Theatre and Performing Arts graduate for your scriptwriting. Further, friends have referred me to lucrative digital marketing jobs because of my writing skills, little do they know I know nothing about digital writing, even though I claim to be a content creator.

So, writing — or a writer — is not a one-size-fit-all concept; however, the most important is your ability to convey your thoughts effectively with a pen and paper, that is, possessing general writing skills
